Tony Boudreaux has only seven days to solve a ten-year-old murder and keep Bobby Packard from the needle. What he quickly discovers is that ominous forces exist that don’t want Packard saved—forces that will go to any lengths to make sure Tony fails.
Those seven days are the longest of Tony’s life—an interminable potpourri filled with a Significant Other who wants to play detective, an ex-wife who shows up in town, a millionaire friend soliciting his help to run for City Hall, the appearance of his old man who had stolen his laptop at their family reunion, a testy mob underboss, secretive Chinese Tongs and Triads, grave robbing, and a corpse that vanishes.
Kent Conwell grew up in the Texas Panhandle in the town of Wheeler, population 848. The West was an integral part of his life. The solitude of the Panhandle, which offered little more than school and work, encouraged his reading and writing as well as his exploration of the vast emptiness of the rolling prairies.
A quest for adventure had been woven into his life by his grandfather, who ran away from his Tennessee home when he was 14. He bullwhacked his way to the Panhandle where he met his future wife who had traveled from Illinois to Texas.
After moving to Fort Worth where Kent was more at home at the stockyards than school, he earned a B.S. and began teaching. Later, he moved to Port Neches where he acquired a M.Ed. and Ph.D. A successful educator, his love for writing about the West, a period in history unique to America, has never waned. After twenty-two westerns, he wrote his first mystery. He has won awards for short stories, screenplays, mysteries, and westerns.
The Ying On Triad is Kent’s sixth mystery for Avalon. In addition to the mysteries, Kent has also written twenty-seven westerns for AVALON.
